Though you really have to dig to find the information, Chaska Minnesota residents have a solar energy incentive program available to them!

The Chaska Solar Rebate Program offers a $250 rebate for every solar panel you install on your residential property, up to a total of $2,500 or 10 panels. This program is available to City of Chaska Electric Department residential customers and is distributed on a first come, first served basis until funds run out. This rebate can also be combined with the 26% federal solar tax credit. 

Minnesota is a leader in the midwest for solar power, with a variety of community and utility level programs in addition to the statewide PACE solar loan program for business. Now another community is putting itself on the map for supporting this renewable energy source.

Michael Allen, co-founder of All Energy Solar of St. Paul, is grateful for a partly sunny 2020.

"All in all, it was a good year, but not the year we had hoped for," said Allen, 38. "We installed more than in 2019. The stress levels, thanks to COVID-19, were at an all-time high."

For being the North Star State, Minnesota residents sure love our daytime star - the sun. Despite our snow-covered reputation, as of 2019, we’re ranked 12th in the nation for solar power installed. As Minnesota continues to develop solar friendly programs, we could rate even better. 

You can go green with a bonus if your utility provider is Xcel Energy. Solar*Rewards provides incentives for customers who install solar power systems and connect them to the grid to sell excess energy to the utility. Through the Xcel Energy Solar Rewards program, payments are extended to the owner of a solar power system in exchange for Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) for the energy produced by the solar system.

Since 2012, the City of Minneapolis aims to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future in part through the Green Cost Share program.

This program offers matching funds for commercial, industrial, multi-family, and single-family properties undertaking a variety of innovative pollution reduction projects, including the installation of solar power. For qualifying installations, this Minneapolis solar incentive will pay a credit based on the first year estimated kilowatt hour (kWh) production.
